FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Can my existing fixtures be cleaned or polished to restore the shine they have lost?
Many times, we’ll clean a fixture and that’s all it needs. If a non-abrasive household cleaner doesn’t bring back the shine, your finish may be beyond soap and elbow grease.
How much does it cost to replace an average tub?
Costs vary. Where we live, a conservative estimate would be around $3,000. Much depends on the scope and quality of the project. If you can invest some sweat equity, that should reduce the price. Find a trusted contractor and request an estimate.

When I have a fixture refinished, does it require special care or cleaning materials?
Your Markey Restoration & Repair refinished surface will be easy to clean. Since we can’t be an expert on every cleaning product—we recommend diluted ‘Simple Green’. It’s non-toxic, non-abrasive and available everywhere. Abrasives, harsh cleaners and ‘self-cleaning’ products… probably why your current
fixture is need of refinishing.

Can chips—holes—cracks in my fixture be repaired?
Not a problem. Markey Restoration & Repair offers expert color matching. Our goal is “If you didn’t know it was there, you wouldn’t know it was there.” However, depending on how light reflects off the repair, that area will have a glossier finish and thus be noticeable. Even then, our experience has shown that repairs will blend in quite nicely over time. Just remember; it stopped being a factory finish the instant it was damaged.

What will Markey Restoration & Repair use to refinish my fixture?
It will be the next generation enamel which has a luster and texture of porcelain with exceptional adhesion and excellent durability.

How long does it take Markey Restoration & Repair to refinish a fixture?
A standard size bathtub can be refinished in about 4 hours. Most of that time is spent in preparing the original surface for refinishing. After the enamel has been applied, allow a 48-hour ‘cure’ time before using the fixture.

What should I do to prepare the fixture for the Markey Restoration & Repair process?
Take care of any plumbing and faucet issues first. Give the fixture a good cleaning—that may reveal any issues we need to know about before we ring your doorbell. Remove the shower curtain/doors and track.
Will the refinishing process cause any damage or harm to my home or pets?
Honestly, some folks are sensitive to odors. We try to mitigate odors with our exhaust system and forming a ‘spray booth’ around your fixture. Some odor will escape but they are gone within a few hours. You know your sensitivities best, it may give an excuse to go shopping...

Why should I choose Markey Restoration & Repair for my refinishing needs?
Many refinishers have come and gone. We have over 20 years of service in our area, based in Wamego, Kansas. Next generation products—pride in our work—Christian worldview—taking care of our customers… that’s our DNA! Although it won’t be new, we do our best to give your fixture a new lease on life. We’re not trying to talk ourselves out of a job, but if you want new, you should buy new.
